Nascido em Stratford, Inglaterra, 23 de abril de 1564, não há evidências de que Shakespeare tenha estudado em universidades. Após seu casamento, aparentemente ele passou a maior parte do ano em Londres, escrevendo e dirigindo suas peças de teatro. Ele parecia não se importar com a sua ausência da família. Nos anos 1590, Shakespeare escreveu a maior parte de seus 154 Sonetos, muito interessantes por conta de sua habilidade característica com a linguagem e palavras:
“Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:”
